Stolzenbach's Bakery

A Flock of Bakers

In the early 1900's, a number of Trinity's members were bakers and employees of Stolzenbach's Bakery. Besides the owner of the bakery, Conrad Stolzenbach, they included: Charles Bieber, William J. Bischoff, Jacob P. Thress, Mame Thress Henry, John Heinle, Fred Heinle, and Anna Heinle.

The Stolzenbach Bakery was sold to the National Biscuit Company of Cincinnati, which is now known as Nabisco.

The Baker Bread Co. was also an employer for some of our members. The Baker Bread building was right behind the church on the corner of South and 8th Sts. Consequently, the aroma of fresh bread often filled the church during services, testing the congregation's power of concentration. On Ladies Aid day, Baker Bread, as the company was called, would bring over a large coffee cake, topped with cinnamon and sugar. Our members who worked there included: George Eistetter and Louis Bridwell, both of whom made cakes and cookies at Christmas time, and Eugene Schmid, who baked German cookies.

The company went out of business in the early 1970's and the building was purchased by Goss Supply for a warehouse.
