1998Over 300 enjoyed the congregational roller skating party in January.The Youth Group again sold sub sandwhiches for Super Bowl Sunday. The Philo High School Choir sang at a Lenten Service. It was resolved at the April 9th Voter's Assembly to Call the Rev. Keith Lingsch as the Assistant Pastor and also that Voter's Assemblies be moved from Wednesday evenings to Sunday morning between the services. Our church sanctuary was painted linen white (the last time it was painted was 1989). We sponsored a food booth at the Gus Macker. A door offering was received for the Ohio State Lutheran Chapel. In July, Pastor Lingsch accepted our Call to be our Assistant Pastor. An auction was held in our Parish Hall with the profit of $7871 divided between the Air Conditioning and the Organ Update Fund. We sponsored a food booth at a household auction at the fairgrounds in July. $27,000 was gathered to complete our Organ Update Fund. We bid farewell to Vicar Joe and Tonya Grether in August, and Pastor Keith Lingsch was installed as our Assistant Pastor on the 16th of August. The church parking lot was resealed in August. The Church Council initiated a Roof Fund, because at that time the slate on the church roof was the original from 1866. Our beautiful 119 foot steeple (highest in the county) was painted white. Pastor and Lori Lingsch were blessed with a baby boy, Jeremiah Daniel, on the 29th of September. The Voter's Assembly approved a $14,000 carillon bell system. Sixty-two new small chairs were purchased for our Sunday School rooms. Our Congregation honored Mrs. Pat Huffman for her 40 years of faithful service as our church secretary. |
