1995By a 37-9 vote the Voter's Assembly authorized the trustees to negotiate the sale of the church park.Vicar Tony Cloose and our member Melinda Reed, were married on February 19th during our 10:15am service. In March we housed 20 college students from the University of New Hampshire, who were working on a local Habitat for Humanity house. We celebrated "Organist's Appreciation Day" on May 21 in honor of Mrs. Helen Porter's (head organist) 25 years and Mrs. Alean Dudley's (assistant organist) 10 years of service. Pastor Kudart had Memorial Day prayers at Woodlawn and Greenwood Cemeteries. Our church park custodian, Don McElroy retired and John Paisley took his place. Our new parking lot and sidewalks were finished. New red carpet was installed in the church the week of August 14th. We bid farewell to Vicar Keith Lingsch in August and welcomed Vicar James Irwin. Our new church sign was installed on the corner of 7th and South Streets. Pastor Kudarts 25th anniversary was celebrated with a banquet on Saturday September 16th and special services on Sunday Morning the 17th, with a combined 850 attending the services. Mission Festival Sunday was celebrated with Tim Bode, who was working with Pickerington, Divine Light Lutheran Church, as our speaker. 1996Our church attendance for January 7th was only 265 due to the "blizzard of '96."Missionary David Maffett of Togo was our Missionary Sunday Speaker. On June 23, Mr. John Chalfant began serving as our 8am organist. A landscaping committe was organized to beautify our new church parking lot. The July Voter's Assembly approved, Small Groups ministries, replacement of the hymnals, and $26,000 to update the pipe organ. In August we bid farewell to Vicar James Irwin and his wife, Carleen, and welcomed Vicar Mark Matzke. Two co-ed volleyball teams were organized to play in the church league at the Salvation Army Gym. Small group leaders began their training in october under the direction of Marty and Colleen Pohlod. Jim Porter, Larry Whissel, and Clarence Porter repaired the smallest of our 3 church bells. |
