1987By a Voters Assembly ballot of 40-4, we began using individual Communion cups as well as the common cup at Communion services. The Ruth Guild began a project to have the pews padded at a cost of $8,000. In light of a recent robbery at the church, a buglar alarm system and security system was installed. A choir of 65 teens and four adults from Alther Lutheran High School in Melrose Park, Illinois, presented a free concert. We provided lodfing and breakfast for them. New acolyte robes donated. A total of $3,000 was pledged to help pay for a pastor of the Hurricane, West Virginia mission church. The vicarage had major repiars in the bathroom and garage in addition to floors. On April 15th, 1987, 18 inches of snow held attendence to just 23 people in the first service and 57 in the second service. In July of 1987, the church was incorporated as a response to the increased lawsuits and insurance claims across the United States. Dr. Schlacks resigned as choir director and Ruth Allen was selected as the new choir director. Don Walker, the park custodian, resigned. We said goodbye to Vicar Koch and said hello to Vicar Steve Wilson. Rev. Roberto Rojas was our Mission Sunday speaker. A computer fund of $4,000 was established. 1988Mr. and Mrs. Howard Miller were hired to replace our previous custodian. The Starlight School was hired to mow and care for our church park. The Parish Renewal Report recommended that we review the church constitution. Suggestions made are as follows:
Ruth Allen resigned as choir director and Donna Roberts volunteered to become the choir director at no cost to the church. We said goodbye to Vicar Wilson and said hello to Vicar Larry Schmidt. Louise Greiner was honored for being a Sunday School teacher for 58 years. 1989The green tile in the Parish Hall was painted tan and wallpaper was installed. The old dishwasher in the kitchen was repaired. The wood in the back of the organ was sealed to prevent dust from the church steeple from getting into the organ. The entire area of the steeple was walled off to provide a storage area for the choir music and shield the organ motor. Pastor Kudart celebrated 25 years in the ministry on July 30th, 1989. A $14,500 thankoffering was held for the 145th anniversary of the church. Half went to pay for the painting of the sanctuary. The other half went to the Ohio District for mission work. The church was painted by Quality Painting of Coshocton. Henry Rohrman left $17,500 of his estate to the church. We said goodbye to Vicar Schmidt and said hello to Vicar Maynard Schulz. |
