1982The words to 18 hymns were added to the back of our hymnals. The pages were glued into place on the back cover of the hymnal that we use, The Lutheran Hymnal. The parachial school report indicated that $381 had been contributed to the school fund, the fire department had approved the building, and that the Health Department had not yet made an inspection. A five person school study committee was appointed. The results were that 57% favored a Christian Day School at Trinity and 40% were opposed. In the area of financing the school, it appeared that 35% would donate support, and 52% would not. There were about 50 families with children of appropriate age involved. Only 15 families responded and of this number, 6 said they would enroll their children and 5 said they would enroll at $800 per year. Money contributed was returned due to lack of interest. The windows in the Parish Hall were replaced at a cost of $6,240. In Spetember we said goodbye to Vicar Michael McFarland. and welcomed Vicar Rodney Armon. At the October Voters Assembly meeting, a new format of electing church officers was used. Due to the difficulty of obtaining members willing to compete for positions, a slate of officers was presented, with nominations open from the floor. The Sunday School superintendent made mention of the fact that the Sunday School Treasury was very low and help was needed. A new white funeral pall, used to cover caskets during church funerals, was given as a memorial. The pall represents an "equalizer" for no matter if the casket is very costly, or very inexpensive. 1983Mrs. Pohl left the Pfeifer Dr. house to stay with her family in Cincinnati. She died later in the year. A new piano was purchased for use in the chapel from the Walter Mees' estate. Vicar Armon and his wife, Julie, were blessed with a baby girl. We sent the Ohio District (which was badly in need of some money), $1,000 to help them in their time of need. Handicapped parking zones were established near the church. We bid goddbye to Vicar Rodney Armon and welcomed Vicar Kenneth Wesemann. Pat Huffman was honored for 25 years as secretary of the congregation with a gift of $250. |
