1980On January 16th, the mortgage incurred when the parish hall was built in 1955 was symbolically burned.The church organizations banded together to remodel the rest rooms in the church. The Voters Assembly voted against a proposed changed to the Synodical constitution. It was decided to sell ads on the back page of the NEWSLINE to help defray the expenses for $200 a year for 15 ads. The Auditing Committee reported the books were in order and made the following suggestions: 1) Purchase of a calculator 2) Bonding Protection 3) General ledger sheets for permanent books. Brick and coping on the church and parish hall were repaired at an estimated cost of $3,000. Vicar Ted Bessey requested changing his enrollment from Seminex to the St. Louis Seminary. The church council supported his request and sent a letter to the Seminary to allow him to serve a second year and take additional courses. The Singles Group and the Young Married Couples were approved as official chgurch organizations. A District convention report indicated Trinity is teh 9th largest of the 162 congregations in the Ohio District. We took an active part in the Synod's "Forward in Rememberence" fund drive. The Grace Maier estate will be placed in the Ohio District Church Extension Fund earmarked for mission work in Hurricane, West Virginia, resurfacing the parking lots, and the balance into the sanctuary paint fund. 1981Lloyd Barnes was chosen to be the chairman of Synod's "Forward in Remembrance" fund. A Task Force to determine if there is interest in establishing a parochial school reported that initial interest is 68% within the congregation. There are minimum requirements of 25 students for kindergarten and 30 students for grades one and two. Tuition was estimated to be $800 for members and $900 for non-members. With projected enrollment, the school could support a teacher/principle at approximately $18,000 and a part-time kindergarten teacher at $7,000. A motion to establish a "School Fund" was approved to see how the congregation responds. July inspections of the Pfeifer Dr. parsonage indicated that repair work was required. The churh park also neede some drainage correction and $1,200 was approved for this work. We said goodbye to Vicar Ted Bessey and welcomed Vicar Michael McFarland. The trustees were requested to investigate the possibility of air conditioning the sanctuary. The Voters Assembly approved the removal of Seminex from our bedget proposal. It was felt the protest was over and we should close ranks and move on with Synod and its changes. |
