1959-1961

1959

With bus service on Sundays discontinued, attention was given to car pools for our members.

It was announced that members of the church could park free in the parking lot by getting a parking lot sticker for their windshields from the church office.

The anniversary of the church and parish hall dedication was observed and offerings were accepted toward the building fund.

A funeral service was conducted in the church on May 31st for anna weber, widow of Pastor C.H. Weber.

Frank Machina, our vicar from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, joined us.

The Baptismal candelabra was used for the first time in August. It represents the Trinity and is a memorial gift to the congregation by some of the members.

The Men's Club sponsored a booth at the Muskingum County Fair. The committee in charge consisted of Rolland Gaumer, John Heclo, Donald Walker, Walter Jacob, Carl Laudenbacher, Dorman Reed, Oscar Wells, Charles Todd, Dr. W.W. Renner, and Pastor Pohl.

1960

The entrance to the church and parish hall were recovered due to the damage done by spiked heels that the ladies were wearing.

Cottage Meetings were held in our congregation as an evangelism effort. Discussions took place about "Our Faith and Our Church."

A special offering was made during the church service for the annual Church Dedication Sunday. Little Debra Lynn May was Baptized during the service. The Baptismal Candle with its thirteen lines, one for each year to be burned on her birthday and the 13th on her Confirmation Day, was presented to Debra's parents after her Baptism. This was the first time a Baptismal Candle was used and presented.

Many worked and much manual labor has gone into Madinger Memorial Park. Many donated time and money to beautify this lovely spot which belongs to the congregation. Only a very limited amount of church funds was spent to purchase all important things at our park. All organizations pitched in and helped. The park is on Pfeifer Dr. and is a four-acre area donated by Mr. and Mrs. William Dunzweiler. It has an outside altar, shelter house, picnic tables, playground equipment, and a beautiful wooded area. The annual Sunday School Picnic was the first event held in Madinger Park. On July 31st, the Altar In The Woods and the park were dedicated to the Glory of God and the Christian fellowship of our people. Vesper services were conducted at the Altar. Participates received special Dedication Programs with the Dedication Prayer of the Madinger Memorial Park and The Altar In The Woods.

Rules and regulations for the use of Madinger Memorial Park were set up and adopted by a committee consisting of the pastor, trustees (Fred Long, Sr., Herman Todd, Louis Weber), and co-chairman of the park (Donald Walker and August Hampp).

A motion was adopted that Walter Bischoff be made an honory life-time elder due to his long and faithful services as an elder.

1961

Pastor Pohl was ill with "coronary insufficiency" and his doctor asked that he take a month's rest.

Rev. Spencer Nygaard delivered a sermon in July until our new vicar, Ronald Laue, arrived.

It was recommended in a November Voters Assembly meeting that we accept an offer of a 30-gallon hot water tank from the Married Couples Club. It would be installed in the shelter house at Madinger Memorial Park.
