Scoutmaster Carl Wietelmann and his assistant, Joe Lindsey, installed Lutheran Boy Scouts in Troop No. 19 in February.

Moments with God, Our church's weekly broadcast, was aired each Thursday at 8:30 am.

"Our Ladies in Exhibit" was the title of the display we sponsored at the Muskingum County Fair. The Lutheran Hour display featured Lena Schriber Jacob and Mrs. Uhlman.

Walther Leaguers counted tax stamps.

Midweek Advent services depended on the situation with the coal strike; they were to be canceled if there was no heat.

1947

By a Voters Assembly resolution, it was decided to celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month. After the regular service, the congregation would be dismissed with the Blessing and those who so desired, could leave.

The Missouri Synod celebrated its 100th anniversary. A letter of congratulations from the White House signed by Harry S. Truman was received to honor the members of the German Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States. A centennial celebration was held at Soldier's Field in Chicago, Illinois, where the Missouri Sunod was founded. A special train was traveling to Columbus for the activity. The round trip fare for an adult was $10.93.

A Saturday School picnic was held at Putnam Hill Park.

The Ruth Guild offered to have the Order of Service printed and inserted in the front of the hymnals.

The Ladies Aid held a bazaar in November.

1948

A candle lighter was donated to the church by the Ruth Guild. Members expressed appreciation to Ruth Greiner Ross for the beautiful Communion altar cloth. Over 3,000 yards of thread were used in the crocheted border.

Pastor Pohl reported that the average church attendance each Sunday was 401. Of $22,187.21 in contributions, $10,866.98 was used for operational expensses; $7,973.91 was sent away for the Synodical budget, and the remainder was placed in a savings account.

The Men's Club met, with president LeRoy Wille presiding. Dr. W.W. Renner showed his second series of slides on Europe and lunch was served by the losing dart ball team.

A new name, "The Lutheran Church -- Missouir Synod," was adopted for our Synod.

In October, we entertained guest speakers in honor of Pastor Pohl's 25th anniversary in the ministry; they were Rev. Ottomar Krueger, first vice-president of the Central District of the Lutheran Church -- Missouri Synod, and Rev. Otto F. Stolzenburg, visitor of Circuit H of the Central District, from Zion Lutheran Church, Columbus, Ohio.

The Poor Fund was abolished by the Voters Assembly and the Emergency Committee was named to handle any situation where funds were needed to help others.

A committee was appointed to study the possibility of air conditioning the church.
