1941

Mildred Capaul was appointed as an additional Saturday School teacher. Students were taught courses in Luther's Small Catechism, Bible History, Church History, and Lutheran hymns and music.

It was announced that our church will have a chaplain from our Synod or a nearby pastor in each of the army camps.

Our basketball team won the Church Championship of the city.

The Men's Club Minstrel was presented at Zanesville high School (Lash High) on April 21, 1941. Tickets cost 25 cents for adults and 15 cents for children.

The Ladies Aid was congratulated for sending $200 to the Orphan's Home, Epileptic Home, and Deaf Institute.

The Christian Flag and the American Flag were placed in the entrance to our church.

The new hymnals were donated by a member of the congregation, who wished to remain unidentified.

A Lutheran Hour Rally was held at Zanesville Municipal Auditorium. A chorus composed of choirs in our Circuit sang under the direction of Rev. Paul Pennekamp. Dr. Walter A. Maier spoke on "The Gospel of Christ - To the Ends of the Earth."

Former pastor Rev. John Rimbach was honored with a doctorate by the Synod.

Rev. Eugene Schmid, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schmid, was honored by his congregation in Gretna, Louisiana, for his 25th anniversary in the ministry. Our church sent a congratulatory letter and enclosed a check.

The third Father-Son Banquet was sponsored by the Men's Club. Walter Wefel of Cleveland, son of a former Trinity pastor, was the speaker.

The 75th anniversary of the church building was observed.

1942

The "Year Book of 1941" was distributed by a deacon. Church etiquette was addressed in the church bulletin with a series of items, "What is the Proper Thing to Do." A Sunday bulletin with a picture on the cover was published by Concordia Publishing House and these bulletins were used first on September 6, 1942.

Treasurer, Roy Leonard, resigned because of poor health and Allen Riley was named the new treasurer.

"Cotten Town Minstrel" was presented by the Men's Club at Zanesville High School (Lash High) in April. {We have a copy of this program.}

A roster of all of our boys in the Armed Forces was placed in the Vestibule of the church. {We have this list in our archives - reconditioned.} The Ladies Aid placed a service flag in the church with a star for each boy in the Armed Forces. Additional stars were added as necessary.

The Lutheran Hour was broadcast coast to coast via the Mutual Broadcasting System.

A nursery for preschool children was opened.

Pastor Pohl was given a B-Book rationing of gasoline.
