1905-1912

1905

Rev. E.A. Brueggemann became the new pastor and began a building improvement project for the church. He was also a proficient newspaper man and was editor of the German Post.

William Riehl resigned as teacher and, with the illness of Louise Crooks, substitute teacher, and the inability to secure other teachers, the parochial school was closed in 1905.

1907

At a congregational meeting in April, it was decided to keep church records in both English and German. This practice was not started until 1912, however, and was discontinued in 1915, when the records were completely converted to English.

In September, the school board of the City of Zanesville wanted to rent part of the parochial school building for $15 a month plus $5 janitor service. When we asked for $25, the City dropped the request.

1908

It was resolved that there would be no card playing, intoxicating drinks, or admission charges for entertainment on church property.

The trustees were ordered by law to have all exits of the church and school buildings so that the doors opened toward the outside.

It was decided, that since the congregation was in financial trouble, to reduce the minister's salary from $1,000 a year to $840, or $70 a month, beginning August 1.

1909

On January 3, 1909, Rev. Brueggemann resigned as Trinity's pastor because of ill health, but served until a new pastor was secured.

A special service was held on March 7, 1909, to dedicate the new "Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane" stained glass window behind the altar.

1910

Rev. Otto Burhenn became pastor.

1911

A committee of two from the congregation and two from the Ladies' Sewing Club were nominated to study the possibility of a kitchen with three closets on the east side of the school building. Their plan was presented by the church council in September.

1912

At an April meeting, Conrad Stolzenbach presented a sketch to show an enlargement of the school building, consisting of two floors and a basement plus rest rooms, the cost not to exceed $2,200.

Pastor Burhenn reported on a new Lutheran newspaper, The Lutheran News, Our members received 150 free copies.
