About Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church was founded in 1844 and joined the Missouri Synod about 1860. One of Trinity's early pastors, Dr. Frank, started in Zanesville what is now Synod's official news publication, THE LUTHERAN WITNESS.

At present our congregation numbers 878 active baptized members, of which 771 are confirmed. We regularly worship at 8 and 10:30 am with an average Sunday morning attendance of 366. Advent and Lenten, plus Ash Wednesday, Ascension, Thanksgiving, Maunday Thursday, and Good Friday services are scheduled for 8am and 7:30pm. Christmas Eve Services are scheduled for 4:30, 7:30, and 11pm. Sylvester Eve (New Year's Eve) is at 7:30pm.

Intercessions (prayers) during the service are for all births, weddings, funerals, and others on a request basis, such as special wedding anniversaries (25, 35, 40, 50, etc.).

Sunday School, beginning at age 2, Teenage, and Adult Bible classes are conducted between the services from 9:15am-10:15am.

Holy Communion is celebrated the first and third Sunday of the month at both services. Communion is also scheduled for Ash Wednesday, Maunday Thursday, Easter Sunday (late service), and New Year's Eve. Four quarterly Communion Services are also held at 6:30pm as announced. Holy Communion is distributed to the list of our shut-in members as often as practical, and privately to our members upon request to the church office or Pastors.

NEWSLINES (our monthly parish paper newsletter) go out once a month, one per family, via email or snail mail.

Hospital visitations are made regularly, and also by request and in cases of emergency. For out of town hospitalizations, local pastors and chaplains are notified if necessary.

Children's Confirmation Classes (for 6th & 7th graders) are scheduled for Sunday afternoons from 11:30am-1:30pm. Religion Classes for 4th & 5th graders are held on Sunday afternoons from 11:30am-1:30pm from January through April. Confirmation is usually in May.

Adult Information Classes (which may lead to communicant church membership if desired), are conducted in the spring and fall. This is a series of 8-10, two-hour lessons, during which Scripture and the teachings of the Church are discussed. There is absolutely no obligation to join. The classes are open to nonmembers and to our members who wish to review.

Trinity Lutheran Pre-School holds classes 5 days a week during the school year. The Pre-School offeres a Monday/Wednesday class and a Tuesday/Thursday class from 8:30-11:30am from September through May. The monthly fee for these classes is $80. There is also an optional Friday class for an additional $40 per month. This allows children to attend either 2 or 3 days per week.

Anyone wishing to place flowers on the altar to the glory of God -- in memory of someone or honoring a special occasion -- should check with the church office for an available date. They may also be placed on the Piscina (baptismal font), or by the pulpit.

Marriages (preceded by two one-hour counseling sessions, by the Pastor) and baptisms are made by appointment. Funerals (preferably in the church) are performed as needed.

Our 4 acre Church Park is located at the rear of Country Fair Shopping Center on Pfeifer Drive. It is open from May until the end of October for picnics, reunions, etc. by appointment. Contact the church office to schedule your activity.
